<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for driving a DC brushless motor at a high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a carriage 1, a belt 2, a CR motor 4, a Hole element 6, an encoder 8, and a MPU 9A. A linear encoder 8 detects the position of the carriage 1. The belt 2 is connected to the carriage 1. The CR motor 4 drives the belt 2 to allow the carriage 1 to scan. The Hall element 6 detects a region where a rotor magnetic pole in the CR motor 4 is situated.
