<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean various types of metals such as copper-based metals without corroding these at high temperature by using an alkaline detergent while suppressing generation of scales. <P>SOLUTION: A detergent capable of cleaning immersed metals at high temperature of ≥70°C comprises an aqueous solution containing an alkaline metal silicate salt, a calcium salt and a scale dispersant. The aqueous solution contains the calcium salt in a concentration set at ≥20 mg/kg. The concentration of the scale dispersant is set at a concentration equal to or larger than the concentration prescribed by the following expression (a) but equal to or smaller than the concentration prescribed by the following expression (b). The scale dispersant concentration (mg/kg)=the calcium salt concentration (mg/kg)-20 mg/kg...(a).
