METHODS AND KITS USEFUL IN THE DIFFERENTIATION OF BURKHOLDERIA SPECIES

Disclosed are sequences, methods, and kits useful for identification and differentiation between Burkholderia pseudomallei and Burkholderia mallei. The methods comprise the steps of sequentially adding oligonucleotides to mixtures containing nucleic acids isolated from a sample and performing nucleic acid amplification. The method is useful for detecting samples from different sources including human, a companion animal, a livestock animal, and an environmental sample.
