<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bio-remediation technique suitable for cleaning real contaminated soil. <P>SOLUTION: The soil cleaning microorganism is the microorganism belonging to the Rhodococcus group or the Gordonia group, and has a capability to make the number of soil bacteria obtained based on amount of DNA per sample unit weight collected from the soil, over a predetermined value. A screening method of the soil cleaning microorganism is to perform evaluation of the microorganism by the index of the number of soil bacteria obtained based on amount of DNA per sample unit weight collected from the soil.
