<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting method which detects whether or not the size of a crack generated in a cooling passage formed inside a mold exceeds the permissible criterion value by a simple method, thereby surely preventing leakage of refrigerant from the crack. <P>SOLUTION: The casting method includes a blocking step of blocking introduction of compressed air into a cooling passage formed inside a metallic mold and discharge of compressed air from the cooling passage after introducing compressed air into the cooling passage, an acquiring step performed after the blocking step, acquiring the pressure of compressed air in the cooling passage, a determining step of determining whether or not the size of a crack Cr generated in the cooling passage exceeds the permissible criterion value based on the pressure acquired in the acquiring step, and a pouring step of circulating cooling water in the cooling passage, and pouring molten metal in the mold when it is determined in the determining step that the size of the crack is within the permissible criterion value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
