<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim to provide a hot water storage tank having a long fatigue life and to provide a hot water storage type water heater equipped with the same with low cost, with decreasing a stress acting on a peripheral welding part between an end plate and a shell plate, in the hot water storage tank. <P>SOLUTION: Peripheral part of end plates 106, 107 of a hot water storage tank 10 includes an enlarged diameter part 106b which is located peripheral end side rather than a basic diameter part 106a of the end plates 106, 107 and is more enlarged its diameter than the basic diameter part 106a, a first tapered part 106c which connects the basic diameter part 106a with the enlarged diameter part 106b, a reduced diameter part 106d which is located peripheral end side from the enlarged diameter part 106b and has larger diameter than the basic diameter part 106a and smaller diameter than the enlarged diameter part 106b, and a second tapered part 106e which connects the enlarged diameter part 106b with the reduced diameter part 106d. The peripheral welding part 108 which is located at the position contacting the inner peripheral surface of the first tapered part 106c with an end part of the shell plate 105 is included.
