The connector has two link assemblies provided with housings that consist of plug parts. Each housing includes a retaining part for retaining the plug part. The retaining part of one of the link assemblies is arranged complementary to the plug part of the other link assembly while the retaining part of the latter link assembly is arranged complementary to the plug part of the former link assembly. The link assemblies exhibit an identical structure. The plug parts are made of a conductive material e.g. copper, aluminum and glass, and comprise spigots or pins.
