<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for a new urban transport vehicle that achieves a reduction in tire weight and is advantageous for improving rolling resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire 10 for a new urban transport vehicle includes a carcass layer 12 and a belt layer 14. The belt layer 14 includes three or more belt plies 16. Each belt ply 16 includes a belt cord 1602, and cord-sheathing rubber 1604 covering the belt cord 1602. The belt cord 1602 is spirally wound around at almost zero degrees with respect to the tire equator C. The belt cord 1602 is made of organic fibers containing highly-elastic organic fibers, whose elastic modulus is ≥10,000 MPa, at a weight fraction of ≥50%. The amount of the highly-elastic organic fibers used in the belt layer 14 is larger than 75,000 tex per 50 mm width of the belt layer 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
