<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route guide method for pedestrians, which accurately guides a user who often loses his/her way to a destination in an aspect to easily recognize a movement direction. <P>SOLUTION: A portable terminal device or a server device searches a guide route from a present position acquired by a GPS, etc., to the destination, so as to guide the route by presenting targets along the guide route. The first target and the second target are made to be a pair and presented to the user in the route guide method. The first target is set within a visually recognizable distance of the user and also on the opposite side of the present position of the user on a road, so that the user easily finds the first target and a direction for movement. The second target is set on the present position side of the user on the road and also to be farther in the movement direction than the first target, so that the user easily finds the second target on the side of the user by moving with the first target as a mark.
