Method for securing an article (12) to a component (14) in a defined positional orientation, comprising the steps: joining a joining element (16) to a surface of the component (14) by means of a joining head (62), fastening a clip (18) to the joining element (16), and fixing the article (12) to the clip (18), wherein the joining element (16) has a polygonal section (22) and, during the joining operation, is held on the joining head (62) in a position defined by the polygonal section (22) and is joined to the surface of the component (14), and wherein the clip (18) has a polygonal anti- rotation locking section (38) and can be fastened to the joining element (16) in such a way that an article (12) to be fixed to the clip (18) can be secured to the component (14) in a defined positional orientation.
