<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing apparatus which improve an image quality at a boundary section of an image clipping or deleting region. <P>SOLUTION: A region designated by a user is relatively reduced or extended concerning a region to be clipped or deleted so that any excessive background region can be removed. Furthermore, for image clipping, the side of the clipping image is shaded off, and for image deletion, the side of the background image is shaded off. Thus, the image at the connection part of the boundary part of the image to be clipped and the image to be synthesized is formed with high quality.
