<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing size of the apparatus and capable of saving energy, even when using a photoreceptor corresponding to a life extension. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a charging roller 2 for charging a photoreceptor 1 by being driven to rotate in contact with the photoreceptor 1, and control means 100 for controlling a rotation speed of the charging roller 2.
