<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component for optical fiber coupling capable of providing the optical-coupling between a multi-core optical fiber and a single-core optical fiber, while ensuring the number of cores of multi-core optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: An optical component 10 for optical fiber coupling is a component for providing optical coupling between a multi-core optical fiber and a single core optical fiber, and comprises a laminated part 13 layered by an optical waveguide layer 14 having two cores 21 and an over-clad 22 covering the cores 21, and an optical waveguide layer 15 having two cores 23 and an over-clad 24 covering the cores 23. End faces 21a and 23a of the respective cores 21 and 23 are arranged two-dimensionally at one side face 13a of the laminated part 13 corresponding to an arrangement of the cores of the multi-core optical fiber.
