<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the influence of noise mixed to a mask area. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope includes an endoscopic image processing system 31 and an imaging element 32. The imaging element 32 generates an image signal. The image signal has a plurality of pixel signals. The endoscopic image processing system 31 includes a mask generation unit 31c and a memory 31d. The image signal is input to the mask generation unit 31c through an A/D converter 31a and a signal processing unit 31b. The mask generation unit 31c converts the signal intensity of the pixel signal of a pixel arranged in the mask area to a maximum value.
