<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save space. <P>SOLUTION: The disk device 2 comprises a case 9 and a tray unit 5 that slides in and out of the case 9. The case 9 comprises a case body 7 and an upper cover 8. The tray unit 5 is movably supported by a left sliding rail 13 and by a right sliding rail 14. The tray unit 5 comprises a record/reproduction unit 18. The case body 7 comprises a tray unit housing portion 31 for housing the tray unit 5, a rail housing portion 32 for housing a right guide rail 12 and the right sliding rail 14, and a disk housing portion 33 for housing a part of a disk 4 protruding from the rail housing portion 32. The rail housing portion 32 has a bottom face whose level is lifted from that of the tray unit housing portion 31. The disk housing portion 33 has a bottom face whose level is further lifted from that of the rail housing portion 32.
