<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low start voltage high-pressure metal vapor discharge lamp in which a starter including a nonlinear ceramic capacitor is built in a translucent outer tube, capable of preventing a outer tube damage caused by occurrence of arc discharge in the outer tube by stopping generation of a high voltage pulse from the starter when gas is leaked into the outer tube due to leakage of a light-emitting tube. <P>SOLUTION: The pressure of inert gas sealed into a light-emitting tube is specified in a range where glow discharge is generated in the outer tube when the gas is leaked out into the outer tube, but arc discharge does not occur. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
