<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data compression apparatus capable of high-speed data compression and a data restoration apparatus capable of high-speed restoration of the compressed data. <P>SOLUTION: A data compression apparatus applies reversible compression processing to image data consisting of a sequence of one-pixel numerical values which are represented by predetermined N bits (N indicates a natural number). The data compression apparatus includes storage means for storing a pixel value of a pixel at the predetermined position out of the pixel values which constitute the image data, difference calculation means for calculating a difference between each of the pixel values which constitute the image data and an adjacent pixel value, difference management means for storing the difference of the pixel values into the storage means, and compression means for generating compressed data based on the pixel value of a pixel at the predetermined position which is stored in to storage means and the difference between the pixel values. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
