<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc drive that suppresses effect due to an adjacent track erasure to a minimum by using an adaptive counting of writing on a data track. <P>SOLUTION: A hard disc drive (HDD) suppresses effect due to an adjacent track erasure (ATE) to a minimum by using an adaptive counting of writing on a data track. The track is segmented and grouped, and a counter is associated with each of the segments.
