Class 12(1) A bearing structure for a sliding machine carriage C comprises front and rear lower supporting bearings and supplementary upper retaining bearings, and each bearing consists of a block 20 received in a recess in the carriage and having outwardly converging clamping surfaces one of which is engaged by a clamping device 30 to retain the block 20 in position. Each clamping device has a bevelled end surface 31 and a V-shaped bearing rib 32, adapted to seat in a groove in the carriage, and is screwed to the carriage. Preferably each block 20 is slightly outwardly convex when unconfined. The upper bearings also comprise bearing members 52, 53 adjustably mounted on the frame. |
