[Class 131] In a dry shaver comprising an outer apertured cutting plate and an inner cutting member mounted to rotate or oscillate relatively to each other and in which the cutting plate is supported at its outer edge and also centrally by a supporting member the latter member is apertured to house balls, gears &c. which transmit motion from the driving shaft to the rotatable member or members of the head. As shown the cutting plate 1 is supported at its rim by the casing to which it is secured by a nut 4 and at its central part 3 by a body 4 which is connected to or is integral with the casing by a flange 5. The cutting member 2, which cooperates with the undersurface of the cutting plate, is driven, preferably by a friction drive, comprising a solid driving shaft 8 operating balls 7 which drive a cylindrical body 9 having two lugs 10 projecting into apertures in the cutting member. The cutting member 2 is pressed against the cutting plate by a spring 12. In a modification the driving shaft 8, Fig. 2, having a conical head 16 drives the balls 7 situated in apertures 6 in the upright walls of the hollowed-out part of the body 4 and through the bails the cylindrical body 9. Instead of balls, rollers, discs, cog wheels &c. may be employed. Specifications 533,467, 538,916 and 618,303 are referred to. |
