A method, device and an optical line terminal for transmitting physical layer operations, administration and maintenance (PLOAM) messages are provided. The method includes: querying the value of the number of the PLOAM messages to be transmitted after receiving application information from the framing sub-layer (101); according to the value of the number of the PLOAM messages, extracting the PLOAM messages, the number of which equals to the value of the number (102); transmitting the extracted PLOAM messages to the framing sub-layer (103). With the method, device and optical line terminal of the present invention, the compatibility between the passive optical network (PON) system and the next generation PON system in transmitting the PLOAM messages is implemented. |
