The present invention is a method and system for monetizing real world goods and services in an augmented reality environment within a centralized data processing system having at least one remote node. The method associates a set of augmentation data with a particular set of image data corresponding to a set of geographic coordinates so as to create a set of augmented reality images which is representative of a third party interest. In return for making the association between the augmentation data and the image data, the third party is charged a fee so as effectively monetize the augmentation data.
