PURPOSE: A driving circuit for liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to improve contrast efficiency by changing a gamma voltage level and setting it according to the data characteristics of an interested region. CONSTITUTION: In a driving circuit for liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same, a liquid crystal panel(2) comprises a plurality of pixel regions and display an image. A gate driver(6) drives the gate lines of the liquid crystal panel. A data driver(4) drives the data lines of the liquid crystal panel. A timing controller(8) analyzes the gradation or the luminance information of the image data and detects the gradation and luminance. The timing controller outputs and outputs a gamma set signal. A gamma voltage generator(10) converts and generates positive polarity and negative gamma voltage level. The gamma voltage generator supplies the positive polarity and negative gamma voltage to the data driver.
