[Class 1 (i)] In the regeneration of contact masses such as those used in the treatment of hydrocarbons, each contact chamber is purged at the end of the regeneration by cutting off the supply of oxygen and circulating the spent regenerating gas in parallel through the chamber just regenerated and another chamber in the initial stage of regeneration. The oxygen remaining in the gas is consumed in this latter chamber. |
