PURPOSE: A display apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided to adjust the detection distance of a motion detection sensor by the brightness. CONSTITUTION: An illumination sensing unit(100) detects the brightness of surroundings. A motion sensing unit(200) detects the movement of an object. A storage unit(300) stores sensing distance setting signal value. A control unit(400) creates the sensing distance setting signal by the illumination value. The display device turns on and off the power of the display device by the sensed motion detection signal. |
