The enlargement device has two cylindrical knife holders (6,6'), where each knife holder is rotatable around transverse, particularly right-angled longitudinal axis that runs to movement direction (A) of the material web. One of the knife holders is provided with a perforating- or cutting blade (7). The knife holders are supported in a storage unit (11) in the movement direction of the material web and are misplaced from each other. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an enlargement device.
