The safety opener which serves to keep open a door or flap etc has a housing for an actuating unit on the door and a housing for a holding unit on a fixed part. An unlocking member (10) which has an unlocking incline (9) as part of engagements (6) for the bolt and is able to move over an unlocking stroke relative to the actuating member (5) can be operated from one of the actuating handles for the emergency unlocking of the door. The actuating handle which can be used for emergency unlocking is coupled to the actuating member through a freewheel. The drives for the actuating member and the unlocking member can be designed for moving left and right.
