METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INPUTTING CHARACTER USING THE TOUCH SCREEN

PURPOSE: A character input method using a touch screen and apparatus thereof are provided to input various kinds of vowels by providing vowel mapping standards. CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(120) stores a mapping table in which mapped vowels and gestures according to a vowel mapping rules. The vowel mapping standard includes a touch area, touch maintenance time, and touch pressure. A control unit(110) confirms vowel mapping standard and a touch movement direction and maintains the touch state of a consonant keypad. The touched consonant or searched vowels is displayed by searching the mapped vowels in the mapping table.
