PURPOSE: An apparatus for protecting an inverter is provided to protect a circuit around the inverter and a lamp drive system by preventing damage due to the stress accumulation of a component. CONSTITUTION: A voltage detecting unit(120) detects a voltage which is outputted from an inverter. The voltage detecting unit includes a first voltage to fourth voltage partial pressure resistance which distribute the voltage outputted from the inverter. A converting unit(140) changes an output voltage into a direct current voltage. A switching unit(160) is turned on or turned off according to the size of the direct current voltage. A controlling unit(180) stops the inverter when the switching unit is turned on.
