FIELD: nanotechnologies. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention is related to nanotechnology. Carbon nanoparticles are extracted from carbonaceous material. The carbonaceous material is a residue formed after leaching of solid fluorocarbon-containing wastes of electrolytic production of aluminium. The residue is treated with an aqueous solution of organic acid with concentration of 1.0-1.5% at the temperature of 60-80 C to produce a solution and a residue. Thermal treatment of residue is carried out at the temperature of 500-580 C. Then the produced material is repulped until the solid to liquid ratio is at least 5:1.
