PURPOSE: A vehicle braking system and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the return malfunction of a brake pedal, generate the desired braking power and improving the manipulation feeling, a braking reaction speed and a braking ability. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle braking system comprises a reservoir(24), a brake pedal(21), a pedal simulator(25), a cut valve, a pedal stroke detection unit and a control unit(50). The reservoir stores the brake fluid. The brake pedal is pressed and released in respond to the braking command. The pedal simulator generates the reaction force corresponding to the pressing of the brake pedal. The cut valve controls the supply of the brake fluid between the reservoir and pedal simulator. The pedal stroke detection unit senses the pedal stroke of the brake pedal. The control unit determines the return malfunction of the brake pedal comparing with the pedal stroke and the standard value when the pressing of the brake pedal is released. If the return malfunction of the brake pedal is determined, the opening of the cut valve is controlled and the brake fluid provided to the pedal simulator is controlled. |
