PURPOSE: An antifungal composition containing a compound is provided to ensure antifungal and antibacterial activities with safety to human body. CONSTITUTION: A compound with antifungal and antibacterial activities is denoted by chemical formula 1. An antifungal composition contains the compound as an active ingredient. The composition has an antifungal activity against Aspergillus sp., Cladosporium sp., Penicillium sp., or Candida sp. A preservative contains the compound as an active ingredient. A composition for treating or preventing fungal diseases contains the compound as an active ingredient. The compound is delta-dodecalactone and is isolated from supernatant of Lactobacillus culture liquid.
