PURPOSE: An optical communication device, an optical module which is mounted to the same, and method to control optical output in the same are provided to accurately sense whether an optical cable is removed or not. CONSTITUTION: A shield switch(212) blocks with the optical port if the optical cable which is inserted to an optical port is removed. A shield state storing unit(214) stores opening and closing state information of the shield switch. An optical module control unit(220) controls the output of the optical module according to the opening and closing state information. If the shield switch is opened, the optical module control unit controls the optical module to output an optical signal from the optical module. If the shield switch is closed, the optical module control unit controls the optical module not to output the optical signal from the optical module. |
