PURPOSE: A position determination method for each start mode according to a change in an automatic set value is provided to minimize battery consumption and stably increase the accuracy of position determination, thereby increasing a success rate of the determination. CONSTITUTION: A GPS(Global Positioning System) module is initialized in GPS mode operation. An initialization method of the GSP module is identified in order to determine a start mode(ST-3). A time-out value and allowance error value matched to each start mode are automatically extracted(ST-4,6,7,8,9). The extracted time-out value and allowance error value are applied and position determination is performed(ST-5). The start mode includes hot, cold, and warm start modes.
