<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the maintainability of an air conditioner for a vehicle when washed by preventing the drop of washing water or powder dust in the vehicle without using a special cleaning suction device. <P>SOLUTION: In a frame 1, there are provided a compressor 5, an outdoor heat exchanger 7, an outdoor blower 6, an indoor heat exchanger 9, and an indoor blower 8. A partition plate 2 partitions the inside of the frame 1 to form an outdoor part 3 and an indoor part 4. The outdoor blower 6 and the outdoor heat exchanger 7 are installed in the outdoor part 3, and a return port 14 for sucking inside air, a drain pan 11, and an indoor blower 17 are provided in the indoor part 4. In the indoor part 4, water-tight dust plates 21A, 21B are provided which cover both side ends formed to narrow an opening above the return port, respectively, and which are inclined downward toward the drain pan 11.
