The disclosed feature-point detection system is provided with a dwell-area detection unit (1003), a representative-point extraction unit (1004), and an output unit (1005). The dwell-area detection unit: performs clustering on the basis of the distribution of data points in a user's GPS log data; determines, on the basis of the number of data points in each cluster, an index indicating the user's dwell time in that cluster; extracts at least one cluster on the basis of the aforementioned indices; and forms user dwell areas on the basis of the extracted clusters. The higher the dwell time in a cluster, the higher the probability that that cluster is extracted. The representative-point extraction unit extracts one representative point for each extracted dwell area and determines a score for each representative point on the basis of the density of data points within that dwell area. The output unit outputs an ordered list of the representative points on the basis of the scores thereof.
