<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transmission quality of a long distance optical transmission system in comparison with the prior art, concerning an optical transmission system, optical receiver, optical transmitter, and optical transmission method. <P>SOLUTION: An optical transmission system comprises an optical transmitter 11 to output polarization wave synthesis signal light made by a polarization wave synthesis of signal light having a pair of differently directed polarization, and an optical receiver 12 to decompose the light. The optical transmitter 11 changes the polarization state of the polarization wave synthesis signal light by a polarization converter 3. The optical receiver 12 changes the polarization state of the polarization wave synthesis signal light to the direction opposite to the direction to which the polarization converter 3 changes by a polarization reverse converter 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
