A density logging tool with a pulsed neutron source and three or more detectors provides three or more measurements (251). Selection of at least two pairs of measurements (253, 259) yields at least two density estimates (255, 261) from which may be obtained a further density estimate (257). This enables compensation for source variations andprovides redundant measurements that are used to make borehole corrections and/or corrections for casing.
