<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various improvements in an electrophoretic medium and a display intended for use as a light modulator. <P>SOLUTION: Various improvements in an electrophoretic medium and a display for use as a light modulator include making a refractive index of a suspending fluid corresponding to the refractive index of a continuous phase surrounding the suspending fluid, matching the refractive index of a capsule wall to the refractive index of a binder, flattening a layer having an electrophoretic capsule before a lamination adhesive is applied thereto, a method of concentrating electrophoretic particles in a limited area of a side wall of a microcell or the electrophoretic capsule in a light transmissive state of the display, and, in the case of a light modulator having an electrophoretic layer sandwiched by two transparent plates, forming at least one of the transparent plates so as to absorb electromagnetic radiation which adversely affects the electrophoretic layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
