<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera enabling processing of a file such as deletion even before the file is recorded onto a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging device 1 outputs an image signal after photographing an object image. The image signal outputted from the imaging device 1 is stored temporarily into a photographed image buffer memory 3 with a file name given. A photographed status is also given in addition to the file name. After being transferred to a CF card 4 and recorded, a recorded status is given. On the CF card 4, compressed image data stored in the buffer memory 3 are recorded.
