<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter failure detection device that can accurately detect a filter failure. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes: the filter that is disposed in an exhaust path of an internal combustion engine and collects PM contained in the exhaust; a PM amount detection sensor that is disposed in downstream of the filter and detects the PM amount contained in the exhaust; and a failure determiner that determines the failure of the filter based on a detection result detected by the PM amount detection sensor in a plurality of points including at least two points when a temperature of the filter and the exhaust is lower than a predetermined oxidation temperature where the PM oxidizes in the filter or the exhaust, when the amount of PM in the exhaust flowing into the filter is equal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
