<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform coating on a material-to-be-coated having a body and a member connected to the body so as to be rockable. <P>SOLUTION: The coating system has: first coating robots 16a-16d for performing the coating on a bonnet 22 and a trunk 26 of an automobile body 14 in the downstream side; an opener robot 18 for opening and closing the bonnet 22 and the trunk 26; and second coating robots 16c, 16d for performing the coating on passenger compartment cabin doors 24a-24d of the automobile body 14a in the upstream side. After the coating on the inside of the bonnet 22 of the automobile body 14 by the first coating robots 16a, 16b is finished, the opener robot 18 closes the bonnet 22 of the automobile body 14.
