<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle steering device for detecting a failure of a lock mechanism for locking a transmission ratio, more accurately. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle steering device 1 comprises a transmission ratio variable mechanism 13 that changes a transmission ratio between an input shaft 18 and an output shaft 19 of a steering shaft 3, a transmission ratio control motor 14 for changing a transmission ratio, a lock mechanism 25 for changing a transmission ratio and a control section. The lock mechanism 25 comprises a lock member 62 for restricting a rotation of a carrier 57 and a solenoid 61 for supporting the lock member 62 between a first position P1 where the lock member is engaged with the carrier 57 and a second position P2 where the lock member is not engaged with the carrier so as to be displaced. A discriminating section in the control section determines that a failure occurs at the lock mechanism 25 when the lock member 62 is set at the first position P1 after the lock mechanism 25 is controlled so that the lock member 62 is displaced to the second position P2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
