<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and low-profile semiconductor device having a light-emitting element while improving light collection efficiency thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor device 1 includes: a substrate 2; a first reflection board 4 which is positioned on the principal surface of the substrate 2 and has an opening 43; and a light-emitting element 3 which is positioned on the principal surface of the substrate 2 located at the opening 43. The opening area of the opening 43 increases as is upwardly away from the principal surface of the substrate 2. A lateral surface 42 of the first reflection board 4 provided opposite to the opening 43 substantially share the same face with a lateral surface 21 of the substrate 2.
