The present invention relates to a vaccine composition containing a WTA (wall teichoic acid) as an active ingredient, and more specifically relates to a vaccine composition for preventing Staphylococcus aureus infections, which contains a WTA purified from Staphylococcus aureus as an active ingredient. The vaccine composition according to the present invention has the advantageous effect of being able to effectively prevent Staphylococcus aureus infections such as acute respiratory infection when used to vaccinate individuals and particularly infants and young children who either have no MBL and/or anti-WTA antibodies, or have a low concentration of the same.
