Disclosed is a solid-state image pickup device (10) wherein a plurality of pixels are two-dimensionally arranged. The solid-state image pickup device (10) comprises: a silicon layer (101); a plurality of photodiodes (111) which are formed within the silicon layer (101) so as to correspond to the plurality of pixels and produce signal charge by photoelectrically converting incident light; and a plurality of color filters (122a-122c) which are formed above the silicon layer (101) so as to correspond to the plurality of pixels. Each of the plurality of color filters (122a-122c) is provided with a projection (121), which has a refractive index lower than that of the color filters (122a-122c), in a region between the color filter and an adjacent color filter on the silicon layer (101) side. The plurality of color filters (122a-122c) are respectively in contact with an adjacent color filter above respective projections (121).
