Disclosed is a novel therapeutic agent for viral infections. Specifically disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising polyalkyleneimine and at least one component selected from a neutrally or negatively charged liposome and chitosan. The use of a combination of polyalkyleneimine with a neutrally or negatively charged liposome and/or chitosan can reduce the cytotoxicity of polyalkyleneimine or increase the anti-viral activity of polyalkyleneimine.
