<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable-focus liquid lens and a focus control method thereof which enable a high-speed response. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid chamber 40 contains first liquid 10 which has a first refractive index and second liquid 20 which has a second refractive index which is different from the refractive index of the first liquid 10 and which does not mix with the first liquid 10. An interface 30 which functions as a lens surface between the first liquid 10 and the second liquid 20 is formed. Ultrasonic waves are radiated by an ultrasonic vibrator 80 into the liquid chamber 40, and the ultrasonic waves are propagated in the two liquid, the first liquid 10 and the second liquid 20, in the liquid chamber 40 so that the shape of the interface 30 which is formed between the first liquid 10 and the second liquid 20 is transformed, thus focus of the lens surface is changed, and radiation pressure of the ultrasonic waves which are radiated into the liquid chamber 40 makes focus of the lens surface variable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
