<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for performing endoscopic electrosurgical treatment. <P>SOLUTION: In an end-effector assembly including a pair of opposed jaw members, at least one of the jaw members comprises a support base, an electric jaw lead wire and the sealing plate connected to the electric jaw lead wire and attached to the support base and equipped with the sealing plate, which includes a tissue engaging surface, the surface opposed thereto and a series of the depressions formed within the opposed surface to protrude from the tissue engaging surface, and the ceramic layers deposited on a series of the respective depressions. A combination of the depressions protruded from the tissue engaging surface and the respective ceramic layers of the depressions forms a series of corresponding non-conductive stop members in order to control the separation distance between a pair of the opposed jaw members. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
