<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge a document quickly while terminating reading of the document during the reading of the document when receiving an instruction of termination during the reading of the document. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus, that reads the document while feeding the document at a predetermined feeding speed, stops temporarily reading the document (S101) when receiving an instruction of termination during the reading of the document from a user. The image forming apparatus discharges the document in a positive direction or a reverse direction by a designation from the user (S102, S106) at accelerated speed.
